A typical Linen Chute System consists of depository doors, chutes and a discharge. Depository doors are installed at every level where soiled linen is expected to be collected from.
Each depository door is connected to a chute network that transports the soiled linen directly to the laundry department.
All depository doors are fabricated of SUS316 Grade Stainless-Steel in hair-line finishing for maximum durability and scratch-resistant purposes, 2-hour fire resistant certification and complete with concealed self-closing device, electronic interlocking system, pull handle and manual lock set with master key.
All depository doors come with a standard effective opening of 500mm x 500mm.
Not to be confused with safety switches, interlocking systems are employed to prevent harm to operators and damage to the Linen Chute.
The MARCHAND™ Electronic Interlocking system ensures that only one Linen Chute Depository Door can be opened at any one point in time, preventing multiple deposits from occurring simultaneously. This prevents potential chokes along the chute and at the discharge.
The MARCHAND™ Electronic Interlocking System includes a built-in operating restriction setting that factors in the time required for freshly deposited linen to travel to the Linen Sorting Room. This prevents immediate deposits from a different level after deposition on a different level has been completed and the depository door has been closed.
To prevent the spread of fire in an unlikely event, all Linen Chute Depository Doors are built to a 2-hour fire-resistant specification and certified by TÜV SÜD PSB. Fire sprinklers are also installed on every alternate floor for firefighting purposes.
A fire damper is also installed further down the Linen Chute at the discharge to prevent fire from spreading from the upper floors to the laundry department.
